OUR BAGS
Our bags are a unique balance of understated yet beautiful Danish form, with hues and textures drawn from the culture and landscape of the Ivory Coast. Each bag is envisioned and designed in Denmark, and then brought to life in Italy with our trusted collaborators and essential partners: the artisans. We work with a family-owned factory, and have cultivated a close relationship with the owner himself – an innovative and experimental master of his art, with an acute attention to detail, refined throughout 28 years of experience.
Each Yvonne Koné bag is a labor of love, made in community for a perfected and personal result. A hundred skilled hands – patternmakers, benders, seamsters, tanners, hardware producers – come together to create a product of the finest untreated leathers and materials. The bags are either lined with 100% Italian cotton, or with a synthetic suede fabric, chosen for lightness and longevity. The hardware is also all made in Italy. Each individual bag is carefully inspected and approved by our friend, the owner and master artisan, before making its way into your hands.
OUR SHOES
Our shoes balance function and form, blending understated yet beautiful Danish design with hues and textures drawn from the culture and landscape of the Ivory Coast. Each shoe is envisioned and designed in Denmark for both comfort and aesthetics, and then brought to life in Italy, by artisans deeply skilled in time-honored traditions of shoemaking. We work with a single family-owned factory, and collaborate closely with them to create elegant shoes that never compromise on comfort, and that have a personal touch.
OUR LEATHER
All Yvonne Koné leather goods follow traditional production methods and attentive selection of materials. We strive to choose environmentally conscious vegetable-tanned and chrome-free buffalo leathers that age with beauty. Our leathers are left untreated for a pure, natural, unique finish that may vary in shade and texture, and that takes on further character with wear.
We treasure nature and the landscapes that inspire us, as well as the communities that make our work possible, so sustainability is of consummate importance for us. Seeking the best quality for minimal environmental impact, we purchase surplus leather from top class workshops in Italy, only source locally, avoid harmful chemical treatments, and collaborate with a small selection of independent family-run tanneries, chosen for us by our seasoned leather expert. Our leather goods shift and evolve with the resources we find, so every design feels rare and unique.
Yvonne Koné products are made to last, and we hope you will enjoy yours for a long time. Ensure longevity by taking good care:
—Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces to minimize scratches
—Clean leather regularly with a dry cloth
—When not in use, store in the dust bag provided
—We recommend using a protective spray on suede or brushed buffalo skin products before wear
—To revive old leather, hold the piece carefully over hot steam, then rub gently with a soft suede brush
—Dark colours on new leather may transfer. To avoid smudges on other fabric, we suggest wearing clothing in similar shades until the residual dye vanishes
OUR VEGETABLE TANNED PIECES
This product is made from vegetable-tanned and chrome-free buffalo leather, chosen for its sustainability and ability to age with beauty. We follow a traditional craft method, using natural tannins to preserve the leather’s organic texture and earthy scent. Our leathers are left untreated for a pure, natural, unique finish that may vary in shade and texture, and that takes on a deeper tone, its own patina, and further character with wear.

OUR CASHMERE
Our cashmere scarves bring together the simple beauty of authentic materials, with the refinement and substance of a traditional production methods. Cashmere is a luxury because of its scarcity, and also because it creates a sensory experience for the wearer.
We source cashmere of the highest quality from goats in the Mongolian steppe. Shepherds gather their delicate hairs with a comb, collecting only 250 grams of materials per goat each year. The time and cost involved in sourcing the natural fibers make authentic cashmere a rarity. We then create our scarves with a traditional factory in Italy with over 70 years of experience. Our artisan partners transform the raw fiber into yarn by hand, and hand-dye the output using sustainable dyes. Each scarf is woven on early twentieth century looms, and individually inspected for loose threads and flaws. Because of the complexity and specialized skill required to process cashmere, the family-owned workshop we collaborate with is the only one in the world that still follows this time-honored method. We support the heritage of this endangered craft because nothing can replace the unique charm, soft texture, and enveloping warmth of handmade cashmere.
Yvonne Koné products are made to last, and we hope you will enjoy yours for a long time. Ensure longevity by taking good care:
—Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces to protect the fabric from damage
—Jewellery like rings or earrings may pull out threads
—We do not recommend wearing a lot of perfume, as it may stain your scarf
—Hand wash gently with a mild detergent and lay flat to dry
—Remove pills with a cashmere comb
